Kita Shingyo Temple also belongs to Nichiren sect. In the Edo period a monk's school (Danrin) was established here for more than one hundred novices. The present main building was originally the assembly room of the school. It is a very valuable building which still evokes the atmosphere of a monk's school. The temple is also designated as one of Kyoto Prefecture's culture heritage sites.
