Relocation capital to Nagaoka-kyo

As Emperor Kanmu was strongly influenced by Chinese philosophy and he believed that he ought to relocate the capital because it was by revolution that his father's (Emperor Kounin) Tenchi family had achieved power.
He relocated the Heijo-kyo to Otokuni gun Nagaoka village (present Muko City, Nagaokakyo City, Ooyamazaki cho, and part of Kyoto City).
This was a very convenient place for travel by both water and road traffic and on 11th November 784 AD he named new capital Nagaoka-kyo.
The 'Daigokuden festival' is held on 11th November every year in Daigokuden Park in memory of the relocation of the capital to Nagaoka-kyo.
